Design & Maintenance

Two critical components of
a successful database are its design and its
ease of maintenance. A good database reflects
the customer’s varied and intricate needs in
a set of precise, extensive and related tables
that are easily updated. A bad design reflects
problems that extend throughout the application,
resulting in lost time and money for the customer.
SDI has proven expertise
in creating successful databases for a variety
of customers. From determining the data to be
stored to conceptual schema preparation and
logically structuring the data, SDI provides
quality, custom solutions to ensure effective
deployment of your database.
In addition to designing
the base data structures, we have also designed
the forms and queries used as part of the overall
database application within an ArcGIS/geodatabase
framework.
Examples of SDI’s database
services include projects for the U.S. Army
Corps of Engineers to assist in hurricane relief
efforts throughout the United States, and assisting
Harrison County, Indiana to establish a road
network with topology and county-wide networking
for engineering, 911 and general GIS analysis.
In order to develop our utility mapping application,
SDImaps™ software coupled with ArcGIS, we have
built data models for water, wastewater/stormwater,
gas and electric.
